Silkies will drive you crazy trying to sex. I have about 11 I’m waiting on that are 3-4 months old. Some are satins which makes it even more difficult I think. There is a place online you can get a dna gender test for $15 a bird. iqbirdtesting.com

I had heard about that. If I was doing it for anything but fun I may do it.

Actually that should make it easier... as it's a lot easier to see pointy saddle feathers when they are barbed to make feathers solid and not silkied once they've started coming in around 12 week on most birds, slightly later on some...

"Satin" is something I really don't understand, yet... a nice way of saying hard feathered Silkie cross??

I bred Silkies for a few years... although there can be quite a difference between lines... at the stated age, according to features... I agree this Nugget appears to be a pullet!

This is “Nugget” (my silkies have food names) my original guess has been a boy but no comb streamers at 16 weeks

Update Nugget is a hen. Unlike her sister (THATS RIGHT BOTH WERE GIRLS PRAISE GOD) she lays and leaves but she’s a hen.
