Some friends of mine use Nexgarage. They use it for their garage door but the app let's you open or close the door from anywhere. Might be a cheaper option.

Has anyone made this happen yet? We are in the process of building a new coop with an automatic pop door, and I really want to be able to operate it from my iPhone. I know this should be possible, but haven’t figured out the best way to do it yet.... anyone out there already got it set up?

It just occurred to me: we could do this with incubators the same way we use it for thermostats. One day we could ask Alexa to change the humidity or the temperature!

what about Arduino i am still new to it but have had some success with it though

My first door was controlled with the Arduino but found out it was a bit flaky and would fail sometimes requiring a reboot. For $40 the Raspberry Pi 3 B with the added terminal board is the way to go.
