Got some week old chicks that to me look a little older then a week. ( not by much maybe 2 weeks old) I have them in a big brooder and have the heat lamp on. The heat lamp is reading 93 degrees. There is also a shaded area in the brooder for them to go a escape the lamp. (They’re kept inside and normal indoor temp in that room is probably 75.) They spend most of their time away from the heat lamp and in the other area. The other area by no means is dark. But much much cooler. Is this normal ? The brooder is kept clean. Clean water and food available. They even sleep in the shaded area. I have checked with two different thermometers that I trust. (Use daily) just seems odd to me.

At a week old I generally brood at 80-85. I would raise up your lamp to lower the temperature a bit. You can also switch bulbs to a lower wattage to lower heat.
