Cummulative about 2 hours a day. Some days more, some less. Sit with them when they free range, usually for an hour or so. Frequent checks for eggs, food, water. I truly enjoy their interesting company and consider them all pets, first and foremost. Working from home allows this now, will have to see if/when this changes.😊

I haven't been spending much time with them lately. Lots of snow here, so the chores are easy, and I like yo get inside quickly. Im checking on them 3-4 times a day right now. In the warm months, when they go outside, I like to hang out with them in their pasture. So time varies on the day to day basis.

I’m curious as to how much time everyone spends with their flock! I love watching mine free range and explore, and spend up to 3 or more hours with them some days! However it has become a burden to my phone storage because I tend to take pictures of their every move! I also eat lunch with them (terrible idea as I have now accidentally trained them to jump up on the porch swing with me, and try and take my food!) and stay with them until they go to bed. I love being with my girls and spend lots of time with them. I’m wondering how much time you spend with your chickens/birds each day! Perhaps I will find someone like myself, who spends all day with them!
I checked off 1 hr since I do have a full time job 🤪. On the weekend, though, I could spend up to 3 hrs or more with them. I even have a special fold up chair just for their coop/run. I’ll go in there and sit with them (I also have a special chicken blanket and clothes). I have several lap chickens and they fight over who gets to sit there (my old lady, Alice, won’t let anyone else sit in my lap if she’s on there 😅). Here are some pictures of them 🥰.

First poll time is contradictory, I could check all the others but chose 'other', but.....
Basic care takes about 20 minutes a day.
If there's a problem that needs monitoring, or newly laying pullets, then more time.
I spent way more time out there when I first got them 7 years ago,
but the thrill(and the learning curve) is greatly reduced.

Can you add a 'Not enough' option? I try to spend time with them but sometimes I'm super busy or it just slips my mind.
To help with that, do you have a nice lawn chair, hammock, or porch swing your can sit on? It’s cold recently so I bring out a blanket and wear a huge coat! While I’m outside I just hang around in BYC, take pictures of them, or read a book for part of the time while they free range. Then, I do my chicken work and either clean the coop when it’s necessary or refill feeders and waterer etc.

So jealous you have lap chickens! I don’t have lap lovers, I have food lovers! Just yesterday I brought out a some toast to eat while I watched them free range. My chickens know that if there’s something in my hand that it is food, and they have to have it. As I sat down to eat I managed to form a crowd around me, and finally Joy jumped up on the porch swing beside me. Then Jokgu and Opal jumped up there too. Joy’s head followed the toast as I moved it away from her, and I quickly tried to finish it off. What I hadn’t remembered, was that Joy stops at nothing. She lunged forward and took the toast from my mouth!!!! Bad manners I know. i took it from her but she still swallowed a bit. Then Jokgu took the rest of that from my hand and Opal stole some of it from her. It was a whole chicken toast-war and I have to admit it was pretty funny!

I usually spend 2-3 hours with them every day, but not all at once. Usually I will spend the morning with them for about an hour, and after lunch time, let them out to free range where I will stay with them for two hours or so. Sometimes I let them out later (around 3:30 or after) and stay with them until they go to bed (usually that’s 5:30)
