I met my sister for the first time when I was in my 30s. We're not really close, but we certainly get along better than my brother and I do.

I still don't talk to my brother. I cut all ties with him as soon as I could and only recently saw him on Zoom meetings for my aunt's last days. Didn't talk to him, though.

Not ominous. On the day that we buried our mother, I mentally divorced myself from her and have only seen her twice since then. At the funeral of my BIL, and the marriage of her son. The aggravation is gone.

I can sort of relate. Except for me, it is my mother.

Mine was a younger sister. (14 months younger). She’d kick, punch, bite, slap. I got tired of it and smack her back. She’d cry to mom and dad, I’d get my butt handed to me for hitting my sister. Hitting a girl for any reason was taboo.

It went round and round until I told her I didn’t care what the punishment was. If she wanted to get physical, I will return in kind, every time. Only ten times worse.

I did the same to my little sister. She was a brat so my parents didn't care if I'd wail on her now and then.

Good parents! Lol! At least they sound fair.

Mine was their little angel who could do no wrong.
She’s on her 4th felony drug conviction, and is a poster child for meth deterioration. I think they finally realize she’s not perfect.

I have zero regrets.
They instilled respect for women. Hard work ethics. I never went hungry and definitely have coping skills I use today.
Did they cater to her and make me work for everything? Absolutely. I am also a better person for it.
I love my mom and dad. My sister will be found in a ditch somewhere, and I won’t bother going to the funeral.

Do not add file' to the pot of gumbo or you'll have a gelatinous mess. If you want file add it to your bowl of gumbo

Also if making shrimp and okra gumbo saute the okra in a frying pan on low heat that will remove the slime before putting it in. If not it can potentially ruin a pot of gumbo if they are just put in the pot.

The mini cut everything up....so things are not evenly sized.
