Good point. Mom doesn't either. Even when I do follow recipes I don't always follow them exactly, especially if I have done them many times before.I can't think of one thing I cook regularly where I follow a recipe.
IKR! It’s SO frustrating! We constantly send him pix while grocery shopping showing the prices. He knows. Hes just incredibly unmotivated. Always has been. I’m .Help him! That is such a waste of monies!

I have a notebook which I used to write recipes in before I left home. On one particular page is the title Spanish Rice. There is nothing else written on the page. I still make my versions of Spanish rice and there is still nothing else written on that page.For one of my MIL's meals I use a 'mental' recipe - of course it is a pinch of this, enough of that to moisten, cook till tender ---------------------------
