Good point. Mom doesn't either. Even when I do follow recipes I don't always follow them exactly, especially if I have done them many times before.

You are very talented. I like drawing eyes too, and faces more than anything else. It's difficult, but the end results are (usually) so nice looking.

For one of my MIL's meals I use a 'mental' recipe - of course it is a pinch of this, enough of that to moisten, cook till tender ---------------------------

I have a notebook which I used to write recipes in before I left home. On one particular page is the title Spanish Rice. There is nothing else written on the page. I still make my versions of Spanish rice and there is still nothing else written on that page.
