☺ "Comm. black pullet"? (Not Sexlinks!) ✔Photo Update!✔

I was beginning to the mine was a Black Sexlink male. With the white dot on the head and all! lol But, it was labelled "commercial black pullet", and then both Tractor Supply and Mt. Healthy Hatchery assured me they are definitely pullets, and the hatchery said definitely not any type of sexlink! lol So.. Yeah.. Will have to wait and see what we actually have! lol

I picked up four of these chicks myself yesterday. I went to three different TSCs this week and it's strange-ville everywhere. We shall see.

I must say, I've never seen such chaotic chicks sales in my life. The new "labels", the bins of chicks, etc. at TSC has me scratching my head. Bordering on chaos. At 2.50 per, no bargain either, imho. Well, this is what happens when you don't just order chicks directly. lol.

Anyone else who has some of these chicks, I hope you will share some photos once in a while, as your chicks grow up.. Would love to see how everyone's chicks are turning out. I know i'll be checking this thread once in a while, and sharing pics.

How she is supposed to "be a lot like an Australorp" (according to hatchery) is beyond me! lol

Would this be consider gold/bronze lacing? Barring?

Not the most clear shot.. lol

Here she is with the two velvety black chicks I picked up when I went back to get
another one like her. I ended up with one more that looks a lot like her,
and these two lil ones.. They are mostly black, yellowish tummy and a little white on their wings.

..I will post photos once a week or so, as she matures.
If anyone else who ended up with one (or more) of these "mystery chicks"
from the "comm. black pullet" bin would want to share photos along the way as well, great!

Those legs look green. I think maybe barred rock cross with something to give a sex link of some sort. Chicks that are vent sexed are usually more money than traditional sex links which makes me think this is some sort of sex link/hybrid.

I was beginning to think sexlink, too, until I emailed the hatchery. They told me the birds are in no way sex links.
They said they are an Australorp cross. So, I don't know! lol
I noticed her legs are starting to look green, they were dark gray. The bottom of her feet are yellow.

Ya, that is wierd. Not very many chickens have green leg. I know Australorps have pink bottoms of thier feet. Curious the hatchery did not say what the other cross was, maybe they are not sure. Was the chick the same price as other non-sexlinks? I ask because sexing usally cost 50 cents to a $1.00 to do and the chicks that have been vent sexed are usually higher.

Yes, I was charged the same price as other pullets at Tractor Supply. They claim they are crossed with Australorp, but didn't tell me what the other breed was.

What breeds (that you know of) have the green tinted legs? I've heard of EE's having green legs, but that's the only ones I know of.
