♥ ♥ ♥ Show Off Your Call Ducks ♥ ♥ ♥

Pics
Of course I am! Sounds great! :highfive:

*Ahem, I can still see that little Crashie duck peeking 'round you!* :gig

Crash looks great flapping! Trust me, it took Peg tons and tons of practice to master the one-legged flap on a hill bit! :lau

Crashie? Who is this 'Crashie' you speak of? I don't know any 'Crashies'...

Haha, I meant more the face Crash had in that picture than anything. Peg is all cute in her picture, while Crashie is all 'derp'. Well, and cute, too, but you get what I mean. :p

:love :love Oh, the webs! :love

:love :love :love :love :love

I still love the one with all the water droplets frozen in time :love
And for some reason that green tub makes the ripples of the water look so pretty. It's the perfect backdrop for a pretty duckie :love

Oh, you shoulda seen the pics that didn't make the cut for posting! I swear one looks like she is constipated! :gig

Here are some photos of my call duck alaska just a quick question for you call duck experts... when do calls
Lay? She’s around 41 weeks still no egg? And will they mate with larger ducks? I have two magpie drakes which seem really close with her and another
Call drake which is bullied by her will they be able to create babies? Considering their size differences ?

Depends on their size and how typey they are... one of my smallest and typey-est didn't start until she was 9 months old, others started at 5, 6 and 7 months... *but* they are also seasonal layers, so any coming into POL now in winter may wait til spring to start...

Yes, bigger ones will mate with them, just be careful of size differences and injury possibilities...

Likely. Chrissy was pretty chunky in build even for her breed... my current WH female [Brooke] is much smaller and slimmer.

I think she would have been all right for a few more years had her leg not broken. Combined with using her wings a bit, she could get around all right. I am wondering if that was more my fault than I originally thought. She was churning out huge eggs every day, literally every day for weeks... and she wasn't getting layer feed or oyster shell. I completely forgot until a week or two prior to the break. I don't know which bones they draw from most but I have had a rotten feeling in my chest that that at least contributed to it.

Anyway... I am going off topic now. Apologies.

And I should have thought about warning to not let her use a kiddie pool unsupervised...

OMG!!! :love :love

I am going to get more Calls in the Spring!!!!!!!! :celebrate: What variety should I get? White, Pastel, Snowy or Gray. What do ya think? I already have 2 whites. I will get them from www.johnsonswaterfowl.com. I plan on using them as a 4h project. Thoughts?

Go with your fave... from private breeders, whites and greys are usually the best size/type, but only because they have been worked on the longest of any variety...

The one is pretty. Feathersite says it's a silver.View attachment 1220525

Like VP said, UK's Silver is US's Snowy... US's Silver is the equivalent of the chicken Splash color...

The 2 'white' ones and the grey colored one in between them are Silver... :D

One can dream...but I'm just gonna get 1 variety.
probably safer that way especially for a 4h project, i like whites and i love what they call pencilled. i like the 'ancona' or 'magpie' look

Disclaimer: You all should know that I know almost nothing about call ducks. I know they come in many colors and that they are small, but that's it.
better to admit you dont know than to pretend you do and spread false info ;)
