Hey guys.. so i have 5 mallard eggs in the incubator and wasnt keeping too good track of the days but i could swear today is only day 22-23 and some of them are making internal pips already and im not prepared at all!! Like, i didnt put them in lockdown yet because i thought they would take 26-27 days... i should’ve trusted my candling skills cause i was like “these look further along.. theyre gonna be early..”

Anyway, im leaving for South Carolina tomorrow morning and will be back sunday night, do you think they will be okay?? Will they have hatched by then?

Sounds like they're aiming for a day 26 hatch. Being bantam ducks, that's not unusual. For ducks that hatch on day 26, day 23 is lockdown day If today's day 23, that puts day 26 as Monday.

Are mallards considered bantam? These are not call duck eggs they are true mallards. Thanks a lot for the response, hopefully they take their time (probably the only time I’ll ever say that!)

I posted some pictures of candled eggs that did not hatch on day 22...

Could some of you go look and see if they look normal??? If they are dux. Some look like they might be alive..
