I have never seen any mate out of water, but I have seen them mate in a small mud puddle only an inch or two deep. I also have seen a couple males mate with one female which is somewhat unusual and also one male mate with two females, one right after the other.
 
That aviary is beautiful. I wanna live in it with the ducks.

It would certainly appear that the drake is murdering the poor little duck by drowning, but out of dozens bred, none drown. She just barely can keep her head above water.
 
I see you have chicken wire on the front and netting on the top...i was also going to put an electric fence around mine too. Just wondering what that is on the sides of it...is it hardware cloth??Have you ever had problems with predators, it is very nice and very proffesional!

Hehe, I will derail this thread further by asking if once they are done mating, do they act like normal drakes and shoot around the pool for a little while like they're superheroes and fly out?
