✮ How to Give Pills to Chickens and Ducks - Videos ✮

I've found that all you need to do is to be able to get a pill on the tongue and the chicken will automatically swallow. Chicken tongues aren't nearly as devious as cat tongues. Cat tongues can whip that pill back out at a velocity rivaled by a gun shooting a bullet.
Cats have fangs and claws!

Good to know, I wondered that. What pills have you given you birds?

:lau
Amoxicillin, penicillin tabs, vitamin E, B complex, B1, B2, and calcium citrate all as treatments for various issues from infection to lameness to soft egg issues. Even if you only need to give a pill once a year, it's a stressful proposition. This method where you grasp the beak from behind the head certainly is helpful.

Yeah, giving a cat a pill is a DEFCON 1 operation.
Just living with a cat is like that...IMO.
Have had numerous cats over the decades,
doubt I'll ever allow one in my house again.
Dogs are just so much more biddable.

I'd like to see that vet tech wrestle my humongous BO hen who is also THE PLANETS WORST PATIENT when it comes to taking pills.
I have a peahen that's like that. I dread the days when I have to catch them and check for lice.

Edited to add: The gal giving the pill is a vet, not a tech.
