That is what I was thinking as well. What are your thoughts when you look at the wings? That's early comb development for a 3 week old. It may very well be a cockerel.
Ok. Thank you for your feedback. His/her wings appeared to have double rows of feathers from the very beginning. This was a day old chick when I got him/her, and I checked the wings several times in the first few days. Does the double row of feathers hold true for Australorps as a possible indication of being female? It’s probably a cockerel based on the comb. The wing sexing doesn’t work past a couple of days old.
Thank you so much for your help!!! What is the most obvious, determining factor that indicates to you that this little chick is a cockerel?Cockerel.
Thanks for taking the time to give your feedback! I was thinking the same thing, not to mention the HUGE feet. The wings just throw me for a loop! What appears to be a double row of feathers, even from a day old, just confuses meCockerel. A pullet should not have that much comb development and color at 3 weeks.
Wings mean nothing at this age. That is what I was thinking as well. What are your thoughts when you look at the wings?
