I think one time before I was born my Parents got a tree from the boy scouts and baby praying mantis's hatched out on it

Yep, that was me! They would gravitate towards my chair and crawl on my legs ( I think they could tell I was warm) and I’d find them in my bed.

We used to cut down a live tree out of the yard to go in my room because we didn’t feel like spending 80+ dollars on a “real” live tree. One year we even cut off the top of a cedar tree because the whole tree was too big.
See where this is going?
Last year, we found a nice little pine tree that would fit perfectly and we put it up. Lo and behold, a week later the carpet in my room is crawling with little black bugs; my tree was infested with APHIDS. The warmth of the house encouraged them to hatch out.
Needless to say, we didn’t do the live tree thing again.

For a live tree, you just have to smoke bomb it before bringing it in the house. We usually do it in the garage
