Hi,

This little one was born yesterday, I realised shortly after hatch that it's leg was held up against its body in a strange position. It's cord was wrapped around it's foot holding it to it's chest. I released it and hoped the issue would resolve quickly. However, I know these things have to be treated quickly and we are 24 hours later with little improvement. I have been giving vitamins b, electrolytes etc. Can anyone advise of the kind of splint to make for this one? She currently hobbles about on the knee of that leg (please see pics). Any help would be greatly appreciated. Xx

Me 2! Oh no! I have lost a quail to wry neck before and treated a fair few with selenium, vit B,D etc. However, don't listen to me as I understand Selenium is a different prospect in chicks! How long has he been sick? X

Thanks. I already did that he is practically an adult. He wasn't looking great last night but I thought he was just having a hard time with all the rain we've been having. Yesterday morning he was fine, but after I did some research I found out that it was common for it to progress quickly. I scooped him up and gave him some selenium, vitamin E and scrambled eggs(which I later learned has enough selenium in it so I don't need the pill) He perked up after it though

Oh, that's good. Hopefully the scrambled egg will help and he certainly won't say no! I hope someone can offer some advice with my little one as I know you need to treat early. It just doesn't look quite like straddle leg to me. I'm also wondering now, if it's foot was like that the whole time in the egg! I really want to save him/her if poss. Good luck with your boy 2. X
