I learned a few years ago about how to cook eggs for ideal results.

It was fascinating as all get out.
1) Start w/a couple pads of butter. A little extra butter is better then not enough or using oil.
2) on a stove 0-10 dial set to ~4
3) I like to mix in some milk* & equal part water (almond, soy, coconut milks are my go-to)
4) with a very good flat front spatula I scrape across the base of the pan then rotate pan 90° and do it again, then rotate another 90° & repeat & then repeat gently. You will see the eggs start to thicken at about 2 minutes....
5) keep gently doing this to keep from sticking to the bottom.... Usually it's about 5 minutes for the eggs to be "almost ready for extras"
6) add in salsa, avacado, cheese, what have you
7) as cheese starts to melt eggs are finishing..... Usually about 2 minutes at a max. (This step I sometimes turn off the heat when I add the. Cheese) the residual heat is more than enough to finish the job.

I have posted a picture of my eggs with the toaster oven tray that has the seasons fries on it..... Those eggs are this exact style and nearly identical timeline.
I might have to try it this way!! It sounds good. I think I used to add milk sometimes but idk. I don’t now. Ours is gas so no numbers.

And it shows!:gig

My husband and my dad are both fantastic cooks even without a recipe. I am not. I can modify a recipe to make it better suit my taste, but I need something to use as a basic framework in order to be really successful. I rock at baking though.
I think I am the same way haha I’m realizing this now I suck at cooking. Although not according to my family. :lau if I’m following a recipe, it comes out great. But even then, I am so damn slow at everything like the prep and stuff or sometimes burn something cause I haven’t finished cutting the veggies or whatever else. But yet I, too, am awesome at baking. :lau

It was on like medium I think but it’s a big burner. Also had been left on for a while first so was very hot. I wasn’t paying attention to minutes just when it looked ready to flip haha

Part 2:

Size of burner is totally irrelevant. 0-100% on the dial are the only reference points to worry about here.

I do believe the picture I posted in my "picture folder" still. Not sure how to go-to it in my phone.....

Now that I'm finally caught up here..... Now I wonder about other threads.....

Gonna head upstairs and sit at the PC for a few.... See if I can 'find something' in leopard print'

/(Cue evil laughter)

Thanks! Good to know! I just figured it’d be hotter being bigger. And :lau

Don't get hung up on the details!

If the gas dial has 5 or 6 lines *after* the ignite line then you'll wanna use the space between 2.5 & 3.5 approx. Think big picture here.

I am great at prep! That is my main job when DH and I make dinner. I prep. He cooks.

Though, for the record, I am not a bad cook. I am actually quite good if I do say so myself. I just know my limits. And the power of a good recipe. You can be a good cook too with practice and good recipes :)

I’m mostly just super duper slow. :lau I take forever to cut anything up and do it totally wrong lol and all different shapes and stuff :lau

That’s part of why I don’t like cooking that much because it takes me hours even for “simple” recipes.

Maybe I just need practice though.

Supposedly I’m pretty good at it, at least some things, when I actually do it, but it just takes me hours and hours and I don’t do it often because of that.
