Practice in grant writing is always good. In this particular case, though the benefits mainly come from how detailed and comprehensive the proposal has to be for NSF. It has to include condensed but detailed plans for your entire dissertation (budgets, timelines, methods, dealing with the unexpected, format for presentation of final results etc) as well as demonstrating a high level of knowledge for your subject matter. Basically, it forces you to think really really hard about what you are doing, how, and why.  and I had some like kinda crow? At 8 weeks, idk if those would be real crows, so does that mean the meat could get tough as early as 4 months or even 2?!
