California quail require permits in most places, and if you free range them, they are wild quail and you are unlikely to see them again except as the occasional glimpse that you would of normal wild quail.
They’d survive? I know cats, coyotes and every other meat eater will appreciate the snack. But they’d know to shelter and such?

Everything likes to eat them, but if I'm not mistaken California quail live in OR too. The realtor that helped me buy my little plot in OR said that he has them all over the place near his house, at least.

Still not free rangeable, though. Coturnix quail are domestic, so they don't survive well in the wild, and everything likes to eat them.
Sorry, I should have been more specific. I was going for a comparison between old world and new world. Seems I missed an entire sentence, or two, in that post  I’ll let you school him. You know more and I'm out for the night.

We have them here. I want more of them here. It appears that if you use them for personal use, no permit needed. If you intend to release for dog or raptor training you need a permit. No fee attached, just basically notice of release.

Interesting 🤔

Gossamer & Marvin!

fun times!
Oooh I loved Gossamer!!! He was such an interesting monster! I’m always saying how interesting Gossamer is! Don’t you think he is soooooo interesting?!?

So do I.
I also remember Romper Room.

I watched that every day. She never called my name, that 🤬!

Funny how those guys refuse to acknowledge state lines.
