This is one of the few games I have :)

I don't live as remote as I'd like. The looting can be stopped if you are well armed ;)

My bookshelves are not as organized as I'd like, but the most important categories are as such... There is one small bookshelf that is exclusively books I have yet to read and books that I reference often. If I am looking for something it is usually on this bookshelf. So travel books for an upcoming trip, Storey's Guide books, and some randoms I've picked up at the library sale and garage sales that I want to read live here. The next most important section is hiking/trail books and topo maps (I LOVE MAPS!!!!). I also am a book hoarder and have learned to let go in recent years. If I won't ever read a book again I will donate it. I keep reference books and books from my favorite authors and art books, but if a run of the mill novel and it's a one and done sorta read, it gets donated.

Also if you have some sort of kindle or e-reader you can download library books for free! Free books! I love this feature because my local library is tiny and has a terrible selection and is only open hours while I am at work, so I do read lots of stuff electronically through my library.
I am a huge fan of borrowing ebooks from my public library.
I think it's such a fabulous idea.

What! I did not know this. I have the same issue with the local library, so I end up driving pretty far to get to an area with better selection.
You can eat then download them as PDFs... From my library.
I can read them from my computer too.

Yes. This is the number one reason I bought an e-reader when I moved to a more rural area. So you still go to your library and get a library card and then you will be able to use that number to log in online. You will have access to a much larger network of books than what is physically available in your library. You are generally allowed to download 3-5 at a time. The files are encrypted in a way that the books "expire" in 14-21 days like a regular library book. The library will only have a certain number of licenses so if you are "borrowing" a book even though it's electronic, other library members will not be able to borrow the same title until your time is up. Also there are many books that are free public domain reads that you don't have to pay for to download, things that are classics and were written 100 years or more ago and no one is collecting royalties from copy write anymore.

That sounds a bit overly filling. Can't I have my dog eat them instead?
Even.

I think I have made more mistakes in this thread alone that I have in the last year everywhere else combined.

Can I blame it on you?

If I had a bookshelf of books I haven’t read yet..... it would be the entire bookshelf. All the books. :lau

And wait... I too did not know you could download library books online!! I need to try this. Thanks for the tip. :D

That said, we are extremely lucky I think because I have two libraries pretty close by. One is pretty small but they have a decent selection and it’s only a few minutes down the street. The other is slightly further but still less than 10 minutes away. That one is a lot bigger. It’s huge actually lol

And then we also have another huge library that’s maybe like 10-15 minutes away.

But then we also have a library network of all the local libraries, like at least 30 libraries, so you can borrow books between any of them. If one doesn’t have it, you can put it on hold at a different one and/or have it sent to yours or whatever. If you have a card at any of them you can do this. You can put them on hold online too with your library card. And then I think there’s a few partner libraries you can do this with too despite them not being in the network like the one in the city. It’s pretty neat.

So I can get any book I want basically.

Plus of course all the free ones at the dump.

But I really don’t read much anymore and have tons of books at home I have yet to read.

Maybe I will get a bookshelf today lol

No downloading new ones to read until you read what you have in front of you.:barnie

I’m not actually going to, I hate digital books anyway, I just thought it was cool. I never knew you could do that.

Also I discovered our library has an app I can get on the phone for digital books but don’t worry, I won’t download it lol
