I feed my chickens FRM 15% Laying Crumbles. I was using Purina until about a month ago.

IMHO, 15% is a tad low for crude protein. What is your thinking on this? Does the analysis tag state the minimum lysine and methionine in the mix?

Flint River Mills 15% Layer

proof you can use by-products and less than whole foods and still come up w/ good numbers in spite of low CP.

0.65% Lysine (a bit above the minimum recommend for adult laying production hens, usually offered as 0.6, I recommend 0.7 [based on my readings])

0.35% Methionine - higher than many (most) layer feeds, and as high as some "All Flock"-types.
