Label just says what I ordered, doesn’t mention the 9th. I guess I’ll see how they feather out, I’m excited about the yellow EE.
Both of the EE are already feisty.

One of the welsummers is worrying me. She’s noticeably isolated and lethargic. She’s the only one with that umbilical scab thing, I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it.


The vet tech in me is expecting her to die, but I don’t think she’s on deaths door just yet. She just wants to sleep in my hands. I’ve seen her eat and drink and she got nutridrench like the others.
The Ginger thinks I’m worried over nothing.

@Ursuline Chick who do you get your Marans from? Are your hens nice or are they coo coo insane like mine? Do they lay nice dark eggs? I've been reading a lot of comments from posters regarding crazy Marans and now I'm wondering if it's normal for them. Most of my issues with mine is how obnoxiously loud and vocal she is but lately she's started eating eggs too. she also tends to one of the ones who gives newcomers a hard time.

@jwyles We have had really good luck with ours, they have become our chicken of choice (lots of chefs here keep them for eggs for themselves) Rather docile, good broodies and mothers, easily trained. Check out Cypress Duck Farm web site. I know Dan Barger has eggs (FBCM. FBlueCM, and FLavenderM) also has FBCM and Lavender pullets now. Is currently working on hisown line of Silver Columbian Marans. He is a very nice man.
