➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I take it that you don't have a broody hen to finish the incubating, which may only be 1 to 2 weeks ...

A good while ago I got a balut from an international grocery. It was already boiled and refrigerated. It already had downy feathers and a soft bill.
:pop This is fascinating! :clap
No broody.

My first thought was actually to wrap them up in a @Blooie MHP!

Eat and drink lol trace AC with pencil to keep track of size.
I scrubbed my hands really good and didn’t breath on them.
Yesterday when this all started...I was so disgusted I had a little trouble eating, but that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm a pig.

Yes...accidentally. I went to buy duck eggs this morning to participate in this experiment:

I brought the eggs home and stuck them in the fridge. I am not a fan of leaving eggs on the counter.

Fast forward to the time to start the taste test experiment.
Just before I cracked the egg into the pan I decided to candle it. My mouth dropped and I almost died...right there in the kitchen.
I immediately freaked out. All that would come out of my mouth was "Oh my God!"

I made a few calls and talked with some friends and quickly decided that I would try to hatch them!

Yes...Kiki the person who swears she will never hatch is trying to hatch 2 Balut duck eggs!

MY day one:

Turned into this:
Please note that I can easily run to the store and buy a real bator (and I may end up going that route) but for now I wanted to just grab what I could around the house and turn these eggs into a different experiment.

1. Styrofoam chest thingy
2. A clipie lamp
3. Balut eggs

Hi KikisGirls,
I have to ask. What are balut eggs? The balut eggs that I am familiar with are fertilized duck eggs that are boiled and then eaten right out of the shell. My Filipino friends said it was a delicacy back in the Philippines. Yuck..

I'm not sure.
But my guess is that these eggs I bought were meant to be cooked to eat.
