➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Soooo I went to check on the chickens this morning and under and around the roost and in coop corners there are little piles of brown dust which are actually all dead mites that came out of the cracks last night! Eeeewwwww! I'm glad they are now dead but I feel so bad for the girls. It must have been millions upon millions of mites I've killed and removed from the coop over the weekend. I have no idea how long the problem has been going on and I feel terrible I didn't catch it sooner.

Don't feel so bad. Nobody has just a few mites,...they always come in multitudes.:hugs
eta Congrats on the massacre! :clap

I never would have seen them all in the pine shavings. It's only obvious now that I've emptied everything out of the coop and know what I'm looking at. Some clean shavings will go back in today. Gives me the creeps.

Be careful, each state has its own laws. It does not work that way in Wyoming.

X2 this is true of all the states I've lived in, though the privacy of your own home is somewhat different than public

Tes, what did the doctor say? Surely you can update us and haven't slipped into a coma!

Well, it’s hard to show the swelling in a photo for some reason.. it’s more painful now but I don’t think the redness has spread, just the swelling.

You can see the swelling pretty well from that angle. Does it have pus coming out the bite part? My BIL had a nasty one on his calf a couple weeks ago. Swollen, red and very angry. It was seeping from the bite. It wasn't from a deadly spider but it still was mighty uncomfortable for him.
I hope you went to the doc if you've got a fever though. Sending some positive green witch healing vibes your way.

You northerners have no sense of adventure. No fire ants, no snakes! Next thing you'll tell me is that you don't have to shake out your shoes to remove any scorpions.:idunno
Our ants are all over but won't turn your skin into a red burning rash, our snakes (at least in WA) are lovely and good little garden buddies.
If I had to shake scorpions out of my shoes every day... I shudder.

That's amazing!!!! You should have taken a photo - x2 on good work for massacring those little vampires!

Sorry, should have said thanks TEXAS laws. It is legal in quite a few states to drink with spousal consent if your spouse is over 21, including Texas and Wyoming. In most other states it is legal to drink with a parent’s permission or in the privacy of your own home.
Here’s a handy list, but always double check, wouldn’t want to get anyone in trouble. :) https://www.alcoholproblemsandsolutions.org/under-age-drinking-laws-legal-in-most-states-in-us/
I had no idea!!! Wow!
