➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I remember my parents dancing like that! Daddy had a blue zoot suit.

Oh no! What ails you, if that’s not too personal? Wishing you a speedy recovery, liquid diets are the worst. :(

Some kind of intestinal bug or flare up of diverticulitis. No up chucking...thank goodness. I'm diabetic so liquid diet is necessary. Staying hydrated. Effleurage (sp) massage helps too. Feeling some better this morning. :)

On an upbeat note...Maggie the Cayuga duck hen is sitting very tight on her nest today...hissing up a storm at any duck that gets nosy. Her babies should begin hatching today and tomorrow. She is sitting on 15 eggs...a few more than the 12 she started with.
Any that don't hatch, I will candle and move the live eggs to Mollie's nest. Her clutch is due next week.

@KikisGirls
Confession time, until you posted that YouTube video, I totally thought that candlebox was a poultry convention. Where you can get different items for hatching eggs. And that a candlebox was a special candler that lit the eggs up while in the incubator so you wouldn't have to take them out.
:lau

That was funny Saab!

Ok, since you're a fan, this pic is for you... Its me & DH a few weeks ago. He's rowing slowly around a pond while I played 'Twilight' & 'Meant to Be' :lau Too bad it was such a small pond.

I suspect that at least part of this story is BS. I would easily buy all of it, except the mouse trap in the nesting box. How could you do that without trapping a hen? You'd have to be out there after dark to put it in & go back out well before dawn....
I suspect all of it is bs.

You GOT this! :yesss:
I just finished your rooster. I’ll get a picture tomorrow, our house’s lighting is horrible and I’m totally beat.
:woot. It's tomorrow!

Webz!!!
This is still very funny to me...that I get excited now over duckies!

Yesterday, I decided to try the milk jug with holes cut in it as a waterer for the ducklings again. Everything seemed to be fine. The littles were drinking from it with no problems and any spillage was being caught in a dish underneath. Yay! :yesss:
I had to leave for a bit. DH gets home before I do and calls me to let me know that the jug was a fail. The ducklings knocked the damn thing over and a half gallon of water filled the bottom of the tote we have them in as a brooder box! :barnie He thought that was a good time to take the ducklings for a field trip outside. He brought the tote outside with him and dumped everything out and cleaned it etc. The chickens squawked and bawked as they came around to check the ducklings out. The ducklings sat there looking all cute, completely ignoring the chicks. DH came up with the idea of putting this mini bungee around the handle and attaching it to the rack that the jug sits on. Now they can’t move the jug without moving the rack, and they can’t move the rack because they have to stand on it to get to the jug. Win/Win! :yesss:
Woke up this morn to check on them and everything is still where it should be. :woot
