➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I'm SO glad she is home. My mind immediately went to the worst... I've had 200 lb dogs drop and not make it. When you are alone with that much dog there isn't much you can do. Glad your baby made it home!
Thankfully I had my mom and brother at home, and the vet is also a mobile vet if needed. :) Ruger, our mastiff, weighs over 200lbs and there is no way he would fit in my tiny truck, or even my mom's Tundra.

It is hard.... once I went over to my neighbor to help me get him in the truck at 7:30 in the morning, drove to the vet just knowing if I got there fast enough they would break out the paddles, yell clear and bring my boy back.

I've since created stretchers and have harnesses for all my dog sizes so I don't find my self in that pickle again. Hope your baby sticks around a while and makes a full recovery!

One little footnote to my squashed chick -- I hope people don't find this gross or upsetting.

When I was sure it was dead, I put it back on the ground near Momma hen, so she could see that it was dead. I was worried that she would be frantically looking around the yard for it.

She starting to peck it gently, and I was getting teary. Then, when it was clear it wasn't moving, she began to really tear into it and I realized she was going to try to eat it. At that point I took it away. I forget, sometimes, how practical chickens are.

She and survivors are all acting pretty normal now. I hope they have short memories. I wish I did.

Yep they don't want to attract predators... got a clean up the area

I had a st benard that no longer could stand. I barely got him in the truck to take to have him put down....10 yrs later I got a smaller dog 110 lbs.. hopefully I can still handle him when the time comes

Our lab is 113 but she’s a basset, lab, St. Bernard mix so she’s got heavy boned breeds in her. Probably isn’t helping her hips.

Kind of sad and funny at the same time. Anyone ever think about what would happen if you passed out in the pen with your chickens? Not a pleasant thought. :lau

In chicken related news, our incubator is here! I got the go ahead to put in a double yolker and at least one other egg. :) I’m going to set only Brahma eggs this time so let’s see how this goes!
Congrats, what did you get? :pop
