➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I can't flipping believe this.
I left my dad and brothers alone with my 2 day old chicks for ONE GODDONG DAY and now one chick has drowned and another is in critical condition.
Wtf. I have never had this problem. And my hobbled chick was mysteriously without hobble.
I think someone royally messed up here and I demand answers :smack

I am going to try to order more eggs because I refuse to be left with only a max of 3 chicks for my troubles.

I'm sorry, Cy! I'm sure dad and bro did nothing intentionally wrong. Maybe it was just error on the part of lack of knowledge or just plain bad luck. It'll be ok no matter what but hope it all works out.

I hope so.
I just am trying to convince dad to let me order more eggs because this is ridiculous.
And none of the mutts are sick or dead; only my highest value chicks.

So deepend (that's what my nickname is for you now). Tell me about rug hooking! Is that how you make those awesome funky rag rugs or is this something more formal? I love a rag rug and i know some folks diy them. I like to think (I'm not sure) id like to try this some day.
I'm pretty sure I'm not considered the deep end of anything! LOL My name is Dawn which I have in my sig but most people key on user ID and I'm too lazy to figure out how to change it from my last name.

Anyway, rug hooking is an old practice of looping wool through a burlap looking linen to create rugs. It used to be utilitarian but ahs turned into a craft/hobby. I'm just learning. I'll have to go find the picture of my finished project but if you google rug hooking you can see some amazing examples.

You know, I'm not as good with birds as I am with other animals, but i know that sometimes when breeding for certain physical traits (I'm sure you know this too) we tend to breed out he unwanted physical but ignore the unwanted physiological parts and therefore purebred animals tend to be more fragile. Which birds in particular are having trouble? I'm imagining the bantam Sicilian buttercup could possibly have a more limited gene pool considering it's a newer breed.

Only the D'Uccles.
And from what I'm gathering it has been Hobble chick and the weak chick from earlier today.

Oh gosh! I hope my nickname wasn't offensive . It just popped in my brain! I'm going to google this and would love to see your rug (that sound dirty when I read it back:lau). Please share though! I'm going to do some googling to check it out! I think I know what you're referring to but not 100% sure! And I promise I won't call you deepend anymore! Sorry!

Not offensive at all, just funny. This is the Santa that i saw and loved so I’m making one. The second is my instructor and a rug she has done. There are so many styles and some truly amazing pieces. People actually do portraits in this
Medium. It is amazing. Look at iloverughookimg.com for a better explanation than I can give 03E3D8B6-8CE4-4946-B469-161FAD32E697.jpeg 303317E6-C09E-4E13-A968-4847231F0F60.jpeg
