Use 4 four by fours to hold it up?

Open floor plans allow you to throw stuff all the way across the house. Very nice if you want to live alone. I did notice that you are missing a hallway. Very strange. I also saw only one door. Then I noticed the one in the stairwell. Interesting choice and location.
