➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

@KikisGirls is this what you wanted?

A very good question. Eggs came from a mixed flock with Dominiques and Australorps among others. He didn't mention any BR.
Rooster is a mutt. I've asked for a picture, but it really doesn't matter. This is an experiment that I blame Kiki & @Ursuline Chick for and am thoroughly enjoying - many thanks to all who contributed too! I'm so happy for @Pugsabi ! She has more eggs than I.

So, I will honestly say, "maybe". "Could be". Anything is possible.

I'm fascinated by eyeliner on this chick.

Made the executive decision to put them in the tractor, with mother, for a week or so. Insurance, if you will. Also insures they will get food.

The 2 week old CX are 4 times the size of these. I really hadn't considered how much difference 2 weeks would make. A small puff of a chick compared to a fist full.

Was considering a used incubator like Kiki's. But this could also be a biosecurity concern. I'm back to home building one for quail this winter.

Oh well Dominique could explain it. It'll be fun to see what it turns out. If it has a rose comb then it's got going to be from the Dominique parent. I just saw the little dot on its head and thought br. If I could have as many chickens as I want to at least 75% of them would be barnyard mixes. I love the NOT knowing of how they'll turn out. Please keep an update on here! I'm excited!:woot So are these two all that made it?

And why would I spend the fortune that it costs to get a necropsy in WI only to confirm what I am fairly certain to be true?
You can rationalize it however you want, but it's really what you should do. Instead of buying that really expensive baby bird food, buy a bag of the Kaytee instead and apply the money you save towards a necropsy fund.

That was part of the attraction with the Easter Eggers. Truly mutts. Beautiful. Individual. Unique. The 6 living here are individuals.

Yes, these are the 2 lively ones. Eyeliner and Dot. Starting labels. We will see what sticks.

How do you catch a Unique rabbit?

Said with thick lisp, "You sneak up on it." Sounds like "unique up on it".

How do you catch a tame rabbit?

Said with a thick lisp, "same way". Sounds like "tame way!"
