➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

give her turkey eggs, they are harder :lau

try clipping her nails is all I can think of:hmm

I think it's her beak she's doing it with when she uses it to position them underneath her.

And don't tempt me with turkey eggs! I would in a heartbeat if I could and I'd just about do it anyway even though I can't!:lau

I'm sorry guys, I can start a thread if it'd be better, but I did want your opinions if you've had experience with this. Should I just separate her each time she goes broody and try to break her or should I get rid of her somehow. I lose at least an egg a day to her so I'm really getting frustrated and know I've got to do something about her.

I've got a question. My ever going broody Marans always pushes everyone's eggs underneath her. At least one egg a day has a puncture and sometimes I find yold all over the other eggs but no shell. I've suspected that's she's an egg eater before but I'm thinking maybe she's breaking them on accideng and eating them as cleanup but how do I keep her from breaking the eggs. I tried giving her eggs from my last shipped order and they began disappearing so I took what was left and gave it to another hen. Anyway is it even possible to get her to stop doing this? She's such a stupid bird y'all! I don't know what to do with her. Attached is a pic of today's victim. View attachment 1527106
Marans are the wooooorst :gig Ours are so dumb too! The gate will be wide open and they’re killing themselves trying to squeeze through the fence instead.

Look at them! They're awesome. My aunt had a tom turkey and he was so sweet and gentle. His name was Ben and we enjoyed him until Thanksgiving.:th Do you eat your's for T-giving?
My friends dad had a turkey that was housed with their chickens when we were kids. Her name was Princess and she followed us EVERYWHERE. She even followed us when we walked the dogs lol

If I get rid of her I will probably try again bc I do like the dark eggs. I may just try welsummers or penedesenca instead bc my Marans eggs while much darker than my other brown layers is not at all the crazy dark brown some lay. But surely all Marans aren't like ours. Ursuline really likes her's so I bought about trying some from her breeder if I do go with Marans again.

Keep her locked in a cage (with food and water) that’s elevated by bricks. If she still tried to be an annoying broody then keep her locked in until she stops

Rehome or eat her.
