I realize that we’re in a severe drought here but a week straight of rain and storms is really getting annoying.![]()
We cleaned the coop/run last weekend and literally the day after it POURED rain so all our work was undone.Tell me about it. 90 plus temps all friggin week...and dry....and the moment I need to go out and A) do normal weekend chicken cleaning but now B) hurricane prep....it's pouring rain. And it's not just here and there....it's all day so far and slated for ALL day tomorrow.
Wouldn't be as bad except my backyard slopes and I tend to slide down it when wet. Funny and not at the same time.
Opened the coop to count the chickens and.. surprise.

Spent a good 20-30 minutes chasing this sucker around. He kept slipping back under the coop and getting into a little rafter area, and all we had was a dinky phone light.
I’m knackered and filthy.
With all the flashing lights and stomping in the coop to knock him loose, the babies didn’t move from their roost once. Good chickens.. stupid chickens?
Snake was almost as tall as hubby! Little over 5ft. Yeesh.
Woot for the meat box babies!
These quail are for meat. Once they start laying I will work on figuring out how I am going to keep the cycle going.
I plan to continue hatching non stop.
I just haven't figured how how yet.
And lack of specks... right? I'm learning too!
Yes but I really don't know. It could be like the hatchery white dot head chicks. And lack of specks... right? I'm learning too!
No. Nothing. No bad behavior or noises.
Today makes them one whole month old.
