I forgot to post but I think my plan finally worked. I have a broody. Not sure I want her to go broody though. I might break her. Fall's kind of a bad time to raise chicks, isn't it? Might wait till spring. Or not at all. More money and mouths to feed and I may have to build a bigger coop. Also only got one egg yesterday but idk if that's coincidence or not. I was getting a pretty good amount.

Anyway, I didn't get a picture of the second time cause I didn't realize this was what she was doing but every time I pushed her off last night, she moved to a new nestbox and ended up trying all three.

Thank you. I'm new to chicken raising as it is. I have 4 Australorps and 2 Jersey Giants. Not exactly a HUGE flock. And they're pretty hardy birds so I've just let them do their thing. *side note* Now that they are at POL, and are squatting and submitting... oh my goodness they are so much nicer! I can pet them and pick them up and any time they see us coming, they come running to greet us. I love it! It's GREAT!
I didn't know if the more froo froo like birds required more attention. LOL

Yes it is! One or more could be all the way at the far end of the run and catch a glimpse of me and *whoosh*. They come a waddling/running. Just a chattering away. I'll have to get a video of it some time. It does just instantly melt my heart and puts a big ole grin on my face.

OH thank goodness!!! It's for quail use. I was gonna say....around here the squirrels have demon D.N.A. in them and will chew through anything plastic. I can't even begin to say how many bird feeders I've been through over the years. And those whirly squirrel prevention ones...forget it....the squirrels figure out how to get into the feeders from the top. Steel cage or bust!
