➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Do I need to provide some sort of grit with these extras? I’ve never given anything but feed to the babies.
One thing mentioned the most in the ER forum for chickens with wry neck is, Poly Vi Sol. I didn't have any luck using it but others say they have had their birds recover.

I'd really like to get a video cam instead of trying to take 2 second videos with my older digital camera.:hmm So 'dodgy video alert' ...these are my birds this morning.:D
What do you do when you can't see them anymore, when they are too far to see?
:barnie This is nerve racking!

How long do they stay gone?

With a scrambled egg or the yeast no you do not need to give grit.

Usually they are only out of sight for a few seconds, they are some times gone 15 to 30 mins. They like to weave in and out between the trees and play chicken with the power lines ...so if only i had a better camera i could get some nice footage!:love

Gimpy is loving the treats!

:thumbsup I was wondering how the price compared to grocery store chickens. To me, I was confused as to why people would raise their own as opposed to buying the .99/lb chicken at the grocery store, but the factory farming, and know where and how they were raised makes sense to me.
The taste factor would be a nice plus, especially since lately it seems like most grocery brand chicken isn’t very tender anymore.
Because a Heritage bird is dual purpose...good meat birds, good layers. Some of my roosters were weighing in at 7 pounds butchered weight. Cockerels for fryers were weighing in at 3.5 pounds at 6 months.
This stylized painting shows the standard.

And here are some of my birds. The hens lay about 5 eggs each a week and they make excellent mothers.

Go visit Nanners! @NanaKat and steal some of her ducks!
I do have 29 ducks.... just integrated the older duck flock with their offspring today. It went very smoothly...surprisingly.
edit to add...the year old cockerel photo did appear.

What kind of birds flying around?

And what are Columbian? Columbian Wyandotte? Or a different breed? And they are different from Delaware right? Btw I wish I could show our prices but I'm so OCD I'd probably have to take a video LOL our milk I think is like $3.50 or $3.75, I know it's under $4. Although at our local store it was like $4.20 but it's a more expensive store. This is for regular Hood or Garelick Farms 1%. The organic, grassfed whatever is way more. And you can get store brand for cheaper. Or you can get it at the Dollar Tree for $1 or Wal-Mart for way cheaper. Bread varies from like a couple dollars to like $5. But we usually buy one that's around like $3 or $3.50 I think. We like Pepperidge Farm or Arnold usually. Eggs I think might be like 3 but they have like the cheapest cheap white ones for like I think a dollar and some cents or two dollars maybe. The free range ones are like $5 or $6. And they do sell eggs at the Dollar Tree but I'm not sure I trust dollar eggs lol gas is like under $3 I think right now but might be over. I need to look. I haven't needed gas for a while lol but I remember thinking it was expensive cause it was low for a while then went up lol
