I don't have any pumpkins, but my butternut squash plants went into over-drive this summer. I made spicy roasted "fries" last night and need to come up with some more recipes.
So, something weird on the chicken front. I processed one of my extra cockerels today. It was always a bit on the small and skinny side, but otherwise was bright-eyed, good appetite, looked 100% healthy. I noticed today that its cecal poos were really, really stinky and yellowish. I had been planning on processing him for awhile, but those stinky droppings sealed the deal. Anyway, everything inside looked totally normal. Liver a good color, no tumors or lesions, except that its ceca looked kind of lumpy and had black patches all over it. I was a bit stumped? Could it be a carrier for black head? I decided to put the meat in the dog food pile, rather than the sausage pile.
