➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Were they just not sharp enough, or was their shape not ideal either?

I prefer a paring knife for doing cuts for skinning or just taking off bits. It's easy to handle.
Well they didn't cut in one cut smooth enough.
I think the regular type scissors if going to be a better shape compared to my nw ghetto shears but they all sucked too.

I am trashing them all, they are useless!

I didn't do it.
The Mini and the Mex did the cutting.

That's OK. You raise, they butcher, you all share in dinner. Were they squeamish about it?

Do I leave them in water in the fridge or do I put then I. A zip lock bag?

I don't know if it is different for quail, but I never soak my meat birds. I rinse them in cold water, pat dry and let rest in a bag in the fridge for a couple of days.

Man I don't know if I can do this every few months.

It never gets easy, but I think that the first time is the worst. I always tell myself that raising your own meat is a lot kinder to the bird involved then buying factory farmed.

I think we were all expecting one quick snip.
It took more like three.

Are there other techniques that may be faster? Cervical dislocation? I guess they are too small for an axe to be feasible.
