➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I've tried releasing a few of mine...ones I couldn't sell, or even give away :lau some would stay around a week or two, couple of times they made it 2 months before disappearing. Most of the time, if they get out their gone in a quick chilly minute. Too many predators around here for them to make for very long. :hitHere's some pics of one that hung around for about 3 months!

I had one hang around for a couple of weeks. When a pair of mule deer fawns jumped over the fence and almost landed on him, he decided it might be safer to be somewhere else.

You play with machines too?
I didn't know this!
Me too! I used the Skil saw and a drill today. I'm making bookcases for my material in my sewing/craft room.

Sure, I will get a pic tomorrow of my main machine. It's a 50 watt fiber laser. Pretty neat. I developed a line of fingerprint and photo crap on it. I mostly do that on them.
Cool!

eBay is probably the worst place to buy hatching eggs. A very high percentage of ebay sellers are illegally shipping hatching eggs across state lines. If there is an eBay seller that has what you want, insist on the certificates needed to make the shipping legal. Some sellers on eBay claim they are NPIP certified but do not include the required paper work needed to make the shipment legal.

Try to get references from the sellers.

I'm really looking into their BLR bantam wyandottes, BLR and White Laced Red bantam Cornish, Bantam White Faced Black Spanish and bantam SC White Leghorns.
White Faced Black Spanish are too flighty for my taste...don't like to be handled and are a negative influence on the behavior of other breeds.

It's almost Thanksgiving time...the only time of year I make pies.
I need to start looking for something besides my regular pumpkin and pecan pies to make.
Buttermilk pie, Coconut pie, Old fashioned Vinegar pie, Peanut Butter chocolate cheesecake.

LOL! Congrats. I think you should boil them and make itty bitty deviled eggs. They are very cute. Of course peeling tiny quail eggs is a labor of love but they are cute. When you try to crack the first one it will make you understand why you need quail scissors!
I thought I was going to cry a few times today but never did.
Just big smiles all day long.

What a great idea!
I think I am going to boil these three tomorrow and peel them for fake deviled eggs.
I don't think I am going to be able to sleep.

Hard boiled Quail eggs are a pain in the butt to peel! Especially when you do 50 at a time like I used to do.
Remember to add white vinegar to the boiling water and then let the quail eggs cool in the pan before peeling them. The vinegar dissolves the calcium in the shell and makes it way easier to peel off the shell/membrane. Less damage to the little hard boiled egg that way.

Good morning Nan!
