➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

They are the crossbred ones, so this one received only one barring gene. For true barred breeds you are right that they are more white but that’s because they get two barring genes, while females only get one like this little one did which is why it’s darker like a female but I would still have to say boy.

Does that make sense?

Good explanation! I could always tell with barred rocks but the crosses confused me.

I came home to see a gigantic red-tail hawk sitting by the grow-out coop. Found who killed Ditzy. :hit Luckily we have them all locked up so it couldn’t get another free meal, but they’ll have to suffer locked up for at least a couple weeks until it moves on.
Lockdown on the agenda over here too as I lost my first bird to a predator this morning, hawk I guess. Its going to happen when you fly birds but still sad. Rest in peace Snowy Night.:hit

:hugs
Did she not come home ?

Fresh Blood and feathers in the road...one other bird missing as I just did night check... a feral has joined the flock though. His name is Interloper and he found himself a perch in the loft tonite.
Shoot. I'm sorry.

Is that normal? To lose one and get one in the same day?
