➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

I definitely agree!! Mine were so crazy at first lol but have really calmed down. Still don’t let me hold them but don’t freak out as much lol
I don't know that I've ever had a chicken that "likes" to be held. Tolerate, yes. I don't personally look for that in a bird because I free range, exclusively. Birds that like to be held are like fish in a barrel around here. Sweet, but they just don't last.
My Bantam Cochin group stick closer to the house than my standards, so they've avoided the hawk attacks for the most part.

I almost just hit order LOL but I decided to hold off and control myself lol so hard when I basically have the breeds set but I decided we should decide on a hatch date together lol and also that it should be on a different credit card besides the one on there so going to wait until morning and not do my usual impulsive buying lol

Yeah, usually every spring or whenever it rains a bunch!! And there is also one in the woods that is usually always full. Of course it is not in the yard but if I let them free range, I am sure they would find it as it is just a little bit down the driveway LOL

I bet they would love it!! Maybe I should just get ducks lol
DO IT.

That makes sense!! One of my Orpingtons liked to be held and she got taken by a hawk :( so that probably isn’t too good of a trait to have but thankfully the EEs usually keep everyone safe with their alarms. Mine are usually confined but I think with the new group I will let them free range more

Waiting is most wise.

The sweet ones always get taken. I try to distance myself now. I lost my favorite chick of all time to a hawk (through a covered run, mind you) and I still can't stand thinking of her.

Sooo hard. But I must. My parents would probably be really mad if I just did it lol my dad is onboard with more chickens but I specifically told him I would not order tonight lol plus I want to decide on a date together. I think he will agree with my date choice but want to make sure. Plus we are trying not to use that card and I haven’t even mentioned it to my mom yet so if she sees MEYER HATCHERY on the statement or that the amount we owe went up/stayed the same, I don’t think she would be too happy finding out that way :lau

Through a run!? That must have been awful and tragic :( mine was my favorite hen and she went broody a lot but I didn’t care, she was so sweet and gentle and kind. :hit I get too attached. They all have names lol but I only have 7 (was 8) so they are all pets.
