On another note, have you tried the TSC or other comparable store for therms.? They may have something more durable?

TSC is not an option.
I am not driving that far to over pay for anything.

Even though it may be easier to use, I don't recommend light bulbs. With incandescent lamps, 90% of the energy goes to heat and 10% produces light. That makes them fairly efficient heat producers but poor efficiency for light. With a metallic heat element, nearly 100% of the energy goes to produce heat and thereby, more energy efficient. The main problem with lamps using a heated filament in an incubator is the short life cycle. Most incandescent lamps are predicted to have a duty cycle of about 750-1000 hours. However those predictions are mere approximations. The constant on/off cycling of the thermostat tends to accelerate lamp aging. Incubating twice puts you at the end of the lamp's approximate life.
There are many metallic heat elements that range mostly from 40 watts to 225 watts.
I've used several of the ones in the following link and never had a failure. Basically, there's nothing to break or wear out.

ThermoSTAT is worthless without a thermoMETER.

He does miss his cullture. He doesn't miss the rain! He was surprised that we don't get rain everyday. Then he was surprised by how hard it rains when it does! But the biggest surprise was his first visit to the states in '99. Was winter, had just snowed. Son in law asked Bern if he wanted to help shovel us out. Bern replied "What? You have to shovel it? Won't it be melted away by midday?"

LOL thats like my mother telling my hubby when he spent his first xmas with us to bring warm clothes..he brought his summer clothes and said he thought it was way to warm LOL

I will look for these.
The therm I had...the now broken one was bought in the fish section.
I had looked in the human/pharmacy section for an old school glass thermometer but couldn't find one. They only have the push the button and wait three seconds electronic ones for humans.
Should I get one of those too?

What's up with thermometers?
Why can't you just buy one and it work right?
Thermometers are stupid.
What happens to normal people who think their thermometer is right when it really is off?
