Okay so we have a confusing situation regarding one of our hatched out blue chicks. We had one extra egg that we thought was a double and wasn’t, it just had one giant chick in it.
Fast forward 5 weeks, said chick is male, has feathered feet plus a single comb as well as barring in it’s dark blue feathers.

So...the only two options for our hens to produce feathered feet are our Black Langshans and Light Brahmas.

Where is this barring coming from?

I think we have only had to worry about tornados during hurricanes and only a couple times.
I guess they are not common enough here for sirens.
I have no idea.

Still scary. Hurricanes are no bueno but at least you get quite a bit of warning (most of the time) with them. Tornadoes are just “hey what’s up I’m here”

Terrible pictures but I was trying not to scare them to get better shots so I worked with what I had lol but we just had 4 little visitors.

Also ignore the filth on that window, it’s in the basement and way up high, ground level, behind the tv, and tiny, and never gets opened/used anyway, so we don’t clean it hard to reach anyhow lol

Our only two barred breeds are our cuckoo Marans (non feather foot) and barred rocks let me get a picture of the barring

Nope. No basements here, the soil is too unstable for it. I had basements in Kansas though!
