Vigor of the brodstock helps as well as them being fed better than normal nutrition. There is a reason why serious breeders do feed their brood stock better prior to and during laying season.

Don't know how long the incubator had been off, but it cooled down significantly.

16 of the 31 ducklings were wiggling and moving while one was definitely DIS since the last candling. Left the other 14 just in case I missed something.
Same with the other two trays...some movement in many of the eggs so I left most of those on the tray and pulled only the ones not up to the development date since the last candling....about 15 eggs total.

As for the Easter hatch...lost the one really chilled chick, but the two pippers had hatched and there are 5 more pipped!

BIG sigh of relief....we may just be okay!

It sucks for any losses but all things considered, I’m so glad to hear it wasn’t worse. I’m so happy for you! :celebrate

Called my numbers on the Easter HAL...last five chicks are fluffing in the hatcher.
Set 73
Moved 54 to lockdown
Hatched 46 but lost on to chill
Total 45 live chicks.

I'm leaving the rest of the eggs in hatcher until tomorrow just because I have had really late bloomers a few times.
Then, the duck eggs will go in lockdown after I sterilize the hatching tray tomorrow.
