Really? OH! I always use duck eggs. I dunno if that makes a difference, but they are a nightmare to boil. Steaming them makes them perfect. Plus, I like to do them medium, especially for deviled eggs or egg salad. So creamy.

Yes but it's sized for making stock... 8 liters. I need to invest in a smaller one as there are occasions when I'd use both at once if I could.

I had three questions on the homework that I couldn’t answer so it resulted in an 82, but the professor drops the lowest grade anyways so I wasn’t too worried. I got the quiz done which was much more important.

Rats, I missed Kiki populating the quail cage while I was away. Quail are funny little things.

The roo is supposed to be, the male feathering comes in dark blue.

Yeah, most of the roos online did look really dark, but are they supposed to be splotchy like that one? Light blue with some dark blue wing patches and splotchiness??

Her feet color is right for BCM and the feet feathers are supposed to be there, but man those feathers are wacky!

The egg color is why I was choosing the Maran. I was wanting to add a darker brown colored egg to my egg basket. So I guess that is why I am so wishy washy on it. I hate to be the kind of person that is so nit-picky or over-reactive. But at the same time, I want what I wanted.

I do not think it is nit picky or over reactive at all!! That is definitely not what you ordered!! Plus they might like to know what their birds are throwing/their genetics are producing if she IS really a BCM. I say definitely email.

I appreciate you and everyone else weighing in on this. I did a search on the website for various BCM posts in the hopes of seeing some pics. I've found a few that looked pretty fuzzy but not quite as "frizzled" (for lack of a better word for the curving) as my Jasmine. I've also seen others whose feathers were a heck of a lot smoother than mine. I may give her another week or so to see how her feathers continue to grow. Or I may get a bug up my behind and send an email, lol. I just haven't decided yet.

I totally get it! It may be just a genetic flaw that showed up with her as well, and it very well could be a result of hatchery blood since they don’t care what genes they may contain as long as it doesn’t affect their hatch rates.

I'm boiling a bunch of eggs in my instant pot... hoping they're as easy to peel as "they" say. Especially since my eggs are only a couple of days old.
It's IMPOSSIBLE to peel them any other way i've tried .

OMG that is a lot of work!! Especially for one day!! I am assuming you just have been doing so much else and had no time!? OMG. I don’t think I would have gotten it done lol but also... WHY is their homework Easter weekend!?

I am just SICK at my stomach!

Power failure to the outlet for my cabinet incubator thru the night.
Discovered it early this morning...temperature had dropped to 61 degrees. Replaced the outlet and the incubator is recovering temperature. Good thing we're had extra outlet boxes!
The Easter HAL Chicks that hatched thru the night in the hatching tray were chilled along with three pips. Moved them to a ready incubator on the other side of the room and chicks are recovering...not sure on the pips. The rest of the eggs may be dis. Time will tell.

There are three trays incubating...that may be ruined. Waiting for the temp to reach a high enough degree to stimulate movement during a test candle.
The duck tray has 31 eggs ready to go to lockdown tomorrow for hatch on April 25.
A second tray has 19 Columbian Wyandotte eggs from Idaho, 11 Delaware bantam eggs and 35 of my eggs. These were due to hatch April 27.
The third tray has28 CW eggs from Idaho and 41 of my eggs due to hatch May 2. I had just candled these earlier in the week.
I am reeling.....going out to candle now.

I steam eggs. I will never go back to boiling.

This may be a silly question but how do you steam eggs? I've hard boiled them and I've hard baked them in the oven. Just haven't tried steaming.
