➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

This could be good or bad news or make people happy or mad depending on which is more important to you lol but so far as far as the actual snacks, I really haven’t dug into very many of them, my family has maybe a bit more but not bad, and there’s still a lot left. Tried some of the popcorn. It was alright. The chips and crackers are going pretty fast. Some chips already gone. But besides that, pretty slowly. Haven’t dug into any pretzels or anything yet. So snacks are lasting. Now here’s the kicker and the part where it could get controversial or maddening lol although I haven’t eaten very many of the actual snacks.... the Nutella and Fluff is going fast and both are already almost gone, especially the Nutella LOL :lau

Now, granted, my dad did have like one or two peanut butter and fluff sandwiches but still. Most of it is me.

I have had a lot of Nutella and Fluff sandwiches, put Nutella on toast, on crackers, etc.

It is addictive. :lau

But on a brighter note, I have also lately like the past few days been eating a tiny bit better. Eggs for breakfast and trying to eat salads or cooked spinach and apple sauce and stuff. To counteract the extremely binding and unhealthy fluff and Nutella LOL except for today when I didn’t have any eggs for breakfast or eat anything really except a Nutella and Fluff sandwich around 3 or 4  but that was only because my mom and I were about to start watching a TV show and I didn’t have time to make anything. Oh and I did eat salsa and tortilla chips not long before the Nutella and fluff sandwich. And I did have steak, a baked potato, and salad for dinner so that’s good at least. Or I think so. Even though I just had a midnight snack of the townhouse crackers with Nutella on them (and tried it on tortilla chips. No good.) and eventually also added some fluff and had a bunch of Nutella and fluff crackers

For the past eight days Maggie the oldest Cayuga duck hen and mother to many of the Cauyga cross duck hens has been missing during lock up at night. BUT every morning Roger sees a duck shadow walk by the big window in the den (a converted garage with a floor to ceiling picture window). Maggie goes to the pen for food and water, waiting to be let inside.
We have scoured the yard looking for her nest, to no avail. I've sat on the front porch with coffee several mornings trying to catch her coming out of her hidden location, but Maggie waits until I leave before coming out.
So now, I'm watching thru the kitchen window and scanning the front yard while I type this message. Roger is watching the den window. We are hoping to narrow down the search area to locate her nest.
Maggie was one of the three ducks I hatched from purchased eggs. She went broody last year in the coop and hatched a couple of ducklings that were trampled. One duckling survived and is a drake in the flock this year. His mate is the Saxony/Pekin cross that had the foot issue and had to wear a boot.
Maggie's mate is Morris and he takes a few ducks to the front yard every day and they snack and nap there. I am hoping that is to keep Maggie company while she broods her nest of eggs.

Buggers!
Maggie just ran back west across the yard going back to her nest and I couldn't get out the door quick enough to see where she went! But She didn't head toward the Photenia bush near the road so that helps narrow the search field.
I WILL FIND HER NEST!
:lau
Good luck.:fl

I wonder if that's a cayuga thing? :idunno Mines not broody, but she can hide her eggs better than any other bird we've had. :he

You may be someone who just can't have the stuff around.

I don't eat any of it, it doesn't call to me. I have a small jar of Nutella in the cabinet and it lasts for ages. I only get fluff for making fudge in December.

But chips and ice cream are gone in days here because hubby will eat them straight from the bag/carton and doesn't seem to notice when he's gone through half a bag in front of the TV. I tried buying nuts and more fruit and not getting any chips or crackers or ice cream because he's been gaining weight after his doctor told him to lose 20 pounds. He noticed that I wasn't buying it, went to the store, bought an excessive amount, and binged through the pile. I don't know what the answer is but going cold turkey was a fail for him. He's someone who never had to worry about his weight and I guess it's such a foreign concept that he's kinda lost.

Fortunately, the kids seem to follow my lead on most things so yay for them having good habits.

Can you try portioning out the chips into serving sizes? So he has to go through more effort to access them? Or maybe notice how much he's eating?

That could be! Wouldn’t surprise me. I am like that with a lot of things. I know like chocolate and candy and some stuff even cookies or sweets I can’t have just one, I eat a million of them at once. And I usually am like your husband at eating the whole bag or all the ice cream and not noticing  I have to have a snack when I watch TV. But I have been better lately and trying not to really eat chips and ice cream and that stuff. Can you try maybe buying the snack size bags so he’s only allowed to eat one of those at a time? He might go slower or realize it more if it’s portioned. Or maybe tell him he can still eat that stuff but only if he also eats something healthy like some nuts or veggie sticks or something first?

That's not a bad idea but I have to be careful he doesn't notice what I'm up to because he gets moody if he thinks I'm saying something negative about his appearance. Worse than a woman lamenting about the dryer shrinking her jeans...

If I get little ice cream sandwiches or something, the kids are happy too because they refuse to eat ice cream that has spoon marks. So, they get one serving and he ends up eating the rest and having his feelings hurt because they are grossed out over his spoon marks.
