That would be easy enough, but I'm in a rooster free zone. We've been harboring Iris our sweet lonely only that a hen hatched last Spring. He's made it a year so far without being reported, but I know his luck cant hold up forever.

Sounds like you need to practice more.

We also are in a rooster free zone. (the quail crowing are hilarious! Greet me every morning. Batch #2 are finding their voices.) They are only with us a short time.

I'd love to hatch some quail but the rest of familys not on board yet. Do you eat them or sell them or both? Whats the male sound like?

Eat the meat & eggs. Buddy wants to buy eggs, so keep a couple more females. Google quail crowing. There are a few videos. Have 2 males that need to make the trip.

The biggest thing I don't like is keeping them caged. The chickens get a varied diet. These quail don't eat the sunflower seeds or greens. They will clean up the mealworms I scatter after a while, but not while I watch.
