Yay! The prothonotary warblers are building a nest in the little house I installed in the crepe myrtle! Back and forth with beakloads of moss making it all cozy inside.

What makes it all the more exciting is that they were the target species for this house. I also have a titmouse pair that was building last weekend and the bluebirds are on their second clutch already.

They are soooo quiet now that they are warm and full. It is so cute. not a single peep and all sound asleep under “mama” lol

But they were peeping up a storm earlier. Amazing how LOUD they can be for how TINY they are and considering they just hatched yesterday!! But at least we know their lungs definitely work.

Hard not handling them a bunch LOL but trying not to. A little worried about the leghorn as she seems a little bit tired and weak and she is so SMALL but I made sure to show her where the food and water is (the others just dove right in) and she ate and drank once I showed her where it was and I put a couple drops of Nutridrench directly on her beak and some in the water and made sure everyone drank some and then tucked them all way under the MHP so hopefully she is just a little bit chilled and will be okay!!

I do the drops for quick response and add a 1/2 tsp to each quart of water in the water container for the first 2 or 3 days.

Always fun to be taking an online exam and a (an almost) tornado decides it needs to come right over the house so I had to basically speed through the end of it and missed questions because of it.

Hope my professor understands.

Thank you!! I just bought it yesterday and good thing I did because the one we had was expired. The Leghorn seems perkier now. And I have a couple really loud ones that keep yelling and making me think something is wrong but the Delaware is soooo sweet. She seems to be out a lot but knows how to find her way back I think. And I just held her and she fell asleep in my hand but then I tried to get the phone out from under my arm to get a photo and woke her up lol so I put her back.

And I switched to the bottle so I dumped the other bowl with it in it out but I think I might add some Nutridrench to the bottle too

It is amazing how instinctual going to bed is even for tiny little babies. As soon as it started getting dark they got one more meal and drink and then they all went back under and TOTAL SILENCE.

Yeah it was bad. We’re flooded here, the shop flooded, pastures/barn flooded. Probably close to 10 inches of rain in less than an hour. More rain scheduled for the rest of the week.

It’s headed up towards Arkansas it looks like so complete opposite direction from ya’ll down there.
