I was wondering how fresh the free range eggs were myself (not refrigerated) and if they might be fertile. Worst case, you just bought half a dozen eggs that will become breakfast.

I'm not sure when I'll be going to Waterford again, but our local butchers sell duck eggs and I was thinking of maybe getting some to check fertility. Only tiny problem is I don't have an incubator at the moment and I'm not the DIY type!

WATERFORD! Love that place! I went to Ireland summer of '16 and Waterford is a wonderful city, went to Waterford Crystal. I want to live in Ireland

They're FUN to color! My kids were so excited when they put a BC Marans egg in purple and it came out almost black with lighter speckles. We called it the night sky egg. Most of them end up with some patterning (green egg in red dye looked like Mars) because if you haven't scrubbed the natural coating off, the saturation will be uneven. It doesn't really show until they dry so we were surprised by the end result.

OMG I'm not totally gonna try that.. right after I help the hubby install a new bath.. stupid bath tub
