➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Are you sure it was rats and not large mice?
Not trying to be patronizing.. a lot of people can’t tell.

I would guess they’re just enjoying the cozy shed with all its hiding spots and a belly full of chicken scratch every night.

Nahhh, you don’t sound patronizing haha that is a good point but I am pretty positive it was a rat cause it was HUGE and definitely bigger than a chipmunk! Smaller than a squirrel but definitely much bigger than a chipmunk (and some of our chipmunks are seriously huge!) or mouse. And had a long, naked tail and was huge and fat or at least good size. And it was out in the open for a while (the run is 12 feet long) and didn’t seem in too much of a hurry, just trotting along, then dive into the tall grass/woods/bush behind the run so saw it pretty clearly. But I guess it could have been a mouse. Idk.

But I’ve seen mice outside too (they’re usually in the stumps or wood pile though), voles/moles, chipmunks, squirrels, and a couple rats up close in the city (that was REALLY gross! :sick ) so I’m pretty sure it was a rat but I was also on the other side of the run so at least 6, 8 feet away, so can’t be 100% certain but if it was a mouse I think I would be a little concerned I have GMO mice because this thing was seriously HUGE!! :lau:oops:

Hmm that’s true. The other shed I organized a while ago and have most things in buckets or bins but there is a bag of gardening stuff in there and an empty feed back and everything’s stacked kinda chaotic and the two feed bins are next to each other so there’s a nice little gap along the back wall that makes a perfect path for a rat, mouse, or chipmunk! Hidden and private. So I think I will have to take everything out, redo it, and also maybe push everything directly up against the wall and eliminate the path. Then for the other shed I will just get rid of it I think because it’s just collecting stuff I don’t need. Definitely don’t need all those bowls and waterers. There’s also some bucket feeders in there I made awhile ago (they didn’t like it so I gave up) so maybe I should switch to those and cap them at night?

. I'm rolling my eyes.
Its just the offices. I have no idea where everything happens or who works there. Like what do you want me to say lol.
“Hi, I know you have no idea who I am and you’re probably just a receptionist, but I like birds and the door says ‘poultry science’ soooo..”

But hey, I’m hoping next semester they’ll have that Poultry Diseases class available again. I’m getting my foot in the door with my veterinarian professors and working on getting some “ins” for shadowing opportunities.
Maybe next semester I’ll have better connections and I can intern in a lab or something.
