➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

To balut, or not to balut.

To balut, or not to balut, that is the question: Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the ducks, quail and chickens of outrageous incubation, Or to take eggs against a sea of troubles, And by opposing hatch them?

I'm going to wait until May to see if I get a broody hen before I set any eggs. No one showing any signs yet, but I'm hopeful that the one surviving broody, Gimpy, from last year will go broody again. She has survived a birth defect, in which she doesn't have full use of one leg (hence the name), plus being bitten in the head by that bobcat. From the bite marks, she must have literally had her head in the cat's jaws. She's my spunky little hen and I'd love her to go broody again.

Anyone ever use a crock pot heating element for their heat source? I took apart an old crock pot and plugged the heating element into the wall. Within 1 minutes it was getting hot. It's a 120v heat element.
Oh neat. :celebrate
Put it in something, an ice chest and see how it heats it up!
:pop

This dishwasher I've been eyeballing has to have some kind of heating element in it too.
