I'm thinking about getting another lizard like an iguana or another beardie.
We just gave our parakeet to my parents because they had a pair of parakeets and one passed away. I'm not sure if the dog spooked it and scared it or what happened.
So now I have room for a lizard
but beardies are awesome obviously. We have a leopard gecko too and he is very sweet. Once Tad’s new tank is done we will probably end up getting another reptile too. Like you said, let a tank sit empty! 
Has your lizard ever had impaction from the sand?
I used to do crickets, but it was a pain to have to drive an hour one way just to get them. Bob prefers freeze-dried bugs anyways, probably just because he's lazyTad is approximately 1.5 years old. We have had her for 10 months.
We buy soldier worms too! Tesumph recommended them as a healthy feeder bug. Tad’s other main food is dubias. She loves all types of bugs though lol.
I hear lots of not good things about iguanas
I know it is extremely controversial. And I would never use it for a baby beardie. But I did many hours of research without finding a consensus. Every option has pros and cons. And since my favorite, most trusted beardie book said non-silica play sand is an appropriate choice.... that is what I have been using. That being said, I will be switching to tile in her new enclosure.

I really want to get a leatherback, I think that's what they called it. It's like a bearded dragon but without all the spikes. They're smooth.
My friend had an iguana and it used to whip you with its tail. It hurts so bad! It had such a bad attitude.
I saw another lizard called a water dragon that were really nice looking, but I haven't really looked much into them.

FWIW though, I have never had a problem. I very closely monitor her poops (and everything else. I have notebook called the Tad Log where I keep track of feedings, poops, baths, supplements etc). No issues. If she goes too long without pooping (rare) I give her a belly rub and an extra long soak and that takes care of it. And she does like to dig. So I will probably add a dig box in her new tiled enclosure.
im unsure what I should get. I want something that can be handled and doesn't need a mister (like a chameleon). If you have an idea let me know... No snakes though, husband doesn't like them unfortunately.
