➡I accidentally bought Balut eggs: 2 live ducks! Now a Chat Thread!

Also misleads people to believe a dirty wound is much cleaner than it actually is, due to the common misconception that “the bubbles are bringing the bacteria to the surface” or whatever.
I had a veterinary biology teacher who was passionate about this.
“Soap and water!”
Drilled it into our heads.
HP is good for some things like spraying my eggs before incubating. I don't use it for wounds.

Case in point....neighbor is currently in ICU...ran a dirty pair of scissors through skin into his left hand and index finger top knuckle last Tuesday working on dog pen. Used only HP and alcohol then went back to his task.
He did finally wash it and used Epsom salts. But infection set in with red swelling. Saw a clinic doc Saturday for antibiotics. Sunday morning seriously low blood sugar and infection sent him to the ER in nearby town. After stable, transported by ambulance to OKC where surgery on hand by a specialist was done Monday. Yesterday moved to ICU with mild heart attack. Waiting on more hand surgery if wbc count goes down and infection improves. Wife said he had a rough day today so far....asked for prayers.

I’m not kidding. RIP Kelsey.

First I make sure it bleeds really good to flush anything out of the wound. Next I use whatever is handy to stop the bleeding using pressure and put a bandaid on. No antiseptics, no soap and water and I have healed well from many minor wounds.

Key words being "make sure it bleeds", "stop bleeding using pressure" and "minor wounds".
Neighbor's cut was 1/2 inch deep puncture between pointer finger and middle finger. He said it bled like a stuck pig. Thought that was good enough. He taped the two fingers together since he was needing to finish his task.
Problem is deep wounds can often seal on the surface and without proper cleaning can fester inside.
Didn't help that he is diabetic and has a heart condition.

I usually do both. Wash it then peroxide or alcohol.

And I don’t know about bringing germs to the surface but I did hear the bubbling meant it was killing them or something and you’re supposed to wait till it stops bubbling or something. And for the alcohol I heard the pain/stinging meant it was killing the germs and you were, again, supposed to wait till it stops.

Sounds so stupid now that I think about it.

But it probably doesn’t help they’re also both labeled antiseptic or similar which implies it kills stuff.

She was kidding lol. Don't get paranoid

:lau too late. :oops:

:lau

don’t joke about that :th

I overuse everything lol

I had to knock on so much wood.

x2. Kels, I suggest ordering your coffin through Amazon Prime and not through some cheap backwoods shady site. It might be more expensive, but the rush shipping will be worth it unless you wanna get nibbled on by the dogs after.

:eek::th

OMG that sounds awful!! That’s what I’m paranoid about lol

You guys sound like my dad's sister :lau she's a hypochondriac. I think I've heard similar things out of her mouth.

I admit I can definitely be one. :oops:

But sometimes I also take real, legitimate concerns (like a bite) and blow them wayyyyyy out of proportion. :oops:

For minor ones it’s probably fine but dog’s mouths are nasty. Though not as bad as cat’s claws haha

That is terrifying. :eek::oops:
