I was fine with the work. Rats and ferrets are more work than rabbits. I tried them inside and outside but just didn't enjoy them much as pets.

I know, I was shocked too.
So funny to watch them learn. Today Clark started chewing on a phone charger cable and I yelled "AH AH" and leaped toward him to get it out of his mouth. I scared the devil out of him and he jumped a foot in the air and hissed at me! We both scared the crap out of each other.
I made sure to pick him up and cuddle him, and he gave me kisses. But hey, he hasn't chewed another cable yet lolol.

I had one and he was super super sweet but they don’t seem very smart, at least compared to rats and ferrets.

And yeah, I think some people just want a nice, cute cuddly pet which they totally fit the bill haha

I do eventually want them but I think a lot of people think ferrets smell or look like rats and won’t get them and actual rats... well... people still hate them and don’t realize what amazing pets they can be.

What age do you butcher them?

I try to butcher around 8-10 weeks, when they get to about 4-5 pounds live weight. Those are "fryers" and can be made into most any recipe. Pretty much anything you can do with chicken you can substitute rabbit. Barbequed rabbit is delicious. Once the rabbits get older/bigger they start getting tougher and you have to be more careful how you cook them, similar to how an older chicken is not as easy to cook.
